OUR TEAM

The staff at PACE Society is made up of a diverse group of individuals with a wide range of experiences both within and outside of sex work. Most of the PACE team have lived and/or living experience in sex work and live at the intersection of varying systems of oppression that impact sex workers and the sex work community. As a member-based organization, we prioritize lived and/or living experience in sex work at all levels of the organizations, including at all levels in the staff team. Staff run all project and programming for the Society and ensure that members are heard, support, and advocated for in a member-led, low-barrier, and trauma-informed manner. PACE programs and services are delivered by peers, wherein the lived and living experiences of members is honoured by involving them in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services to address their unique needs.

Beyond the staff and Board teams at PACE, we are also in the process of developing an active and independent Sex Worker Advisory Committee (SWAC) made up of Black folks, Indigenous folks, and People of Colour (BIPOC) sex workers from the Greater Vancouver Area with a focus on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. As a peer-driven organization by, with, and for sex workers, we recognize the importance of centering lived experience in equity-seeking communities and movements and recognize the importance of providing a variety of meaningful and accessible decision-making power and leadership opportunities for the communities we serve including through formal positions. At PACE, we are continually looking for ways to amplify lived and living experience through peer leadership internally and externally. The BIPOC SWAC will provide oversight and direction on the organization’s governance including advocacy, strategic planning, and diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Society. This will ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts are led by racialized, Black, and Indigenous sex workers who represent our membership (service users and beneficiaries).
